Home Care in Kewaunee, WI

There’s often a misconception among seniors that once they get older and require assistance with daily tasks, they must move to a senior home or care facility. While some seniors may thrive in those environments, it doesn’t have to be inevitable if you don’t want it to be.

The desire to age in place is one of the driving forces behind Visiting Angels. We’re a locally owned and operated home care agency providing at-home care services to seniors throughout Kewaunee, Wisconsin.

At-home care services with Visiting Angels

Visiting Angels is equipped with a wonderful team of professional caregivers to help seniors with various nonmedical tasks to ensure their safety and comfort as they age in place.

  • Companion care is perfect for seniors who need assistance with basic daily living tasks like cooking, medication reminders, or housekeeping.
  • Personal care includes the same services as companion care but provides hands-on mobility, grooming, showering, dressing, and toileting assistance.
  • Respite care is a temporary care service that relieves family caregivers of their duties so they can relax and recharge.
  • Palliative care is for seniors with chronic conditions who need physical, emotional, and spiritual support to feel safe and comfortable.
  • Ready-Set-Go Home care is our transitional care program to help reduce hospital readmissions by helping seniors return home after a hospital stay.
  • Dementia and Alzheimer’s care is for seniors with any form of dementia, including Alzheimer’s, to help them live safely and confidently at home.
  • Social care helps seniors use basic technology tools like smartphones and tablets to stay connected with friends and family.
  • End-of-life care is for seniors on hospice who want physical, emotional, and spiritual support as they enter the final stages of life.

Living in Kewaunee

Kewaunee is a beautiful lakeside city in Wisconsin named for the Kewaneh duck. Like so many cities along the coast of Lake Michigan, Kewaunee offers much to its residents.

Veteran Services

Veterans living in Kewaunee can take advantage of the city’s Veterans Services Department. This department advocates for the benefits and rights of veterans, including access to health benefits, home loans, education, and vocational rehab. Navigating veteran benefits can be challenging, but our caregivers are happy to help clients contact the Kewaunee Veterans Services Department and find the needed assistance.

Kewaunee Public Library

Public libraries are not only great for borrowing books, movies, and music but also a wonderful resource if you need to use a computer, printer, or the internet. The Kewaunee Public Library also hosts many events monthly, including chess club, Bingo, and Senior Coffee Club. You can view their full event calendar online, and if something sounds interesting, Visiting Angels caregivers can help you sign up for an event and provide transportation.

Community Events

The library isn’t the only place hosting fun events for seniors and loved ones to attend. If you’re looking for more ways to interact with other Kewaunee residents, check out the Kewaunee Area Chamber of Commerce calendar for a full list of community events, including holiday-themed festivals and town parties. Community events are a great way to combat social isolation, and our caregivers will gladly accompany clients to town outings.

Kewaunee Parks and Trails

Spending time outdoors is an easy way to incorporate physical activity into your daily lives, and there’s no more beautiful place to explore than the parks and trails of Kewaunee. There are seven city parks in Kewaunee, one of the most popular of which is the Father Marquette Memorial Park. This park is two acres on the outer barber area, with a beach, swimming area, playground, restrooms, and a pavilion. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a picnic with your family or a relaxing summer swim.

For seniors who want something a bit more active, our caregivers love joining clients on hikes along the Ahnapee State Trail. This trail is 48 miles long through Kewaunee, Luxemburg, Casco, Algoma, and Sturgeon Bay. The path has a firm limestone surface, making it a sturdy route for walking and biking.

If you’re a senior in Kewaunee interested in starting at-home care services with Visiting Angels, please call 920-221-1000 to schedule your complimentary consultation.
