You can think about Alzheimer’s as having four separate stages:

2. Mild symptoms. Initial symptoms can include forgetfulness or misplacing items more frequently. It is important to seek medical care whenever these symptoms start to become noticeable. If the individual does have Alzheimer’s, this stage typically lasts two years.
3. Moderate symptoms. A senior begins to require assistance to complete daily tasks and living independently may no longer be possible. They have trouble recalling people and events and have behavioral issues such as increased confusion, anxiety, and loneliness.
4. Severe symptoms. The individual’s habits and preferences are likely to be disrupted at this point in the disease, and they may rely completely on daily living assistance. Their ability to speak or express themselves becomes even more limited.
