Meet Our Staff
Thomas Dolan - Owner
Owner, Tom Dolan, obtained the Visiting Angels of Brookfield office in January of 2012, from Patricia Werlau and the Fairfield office from Robert Melcher in December of 2016. Following a rewarding career leading global enterprises within the service industry, Tom is professionally dedicated to building upon the high service standards that Ms. Werlau and Mr. Melcher were known well for. He is highly involved in the day-to-day operations of both offices, keeping him personally in tuned with the needs of his valued clients, their families, and his caring angels staff. Tom and his family are residents of Fairfield, CT. He is actively involved in his local church, St. Pius X Church in Fairfield, as well as in supporting his family and those with in the community. He has a passion for volunteering in school and local city programs and enjoys skiing, fishing, and golfing (with varied success). Tom's family has experienced many of the same challenges his clients face first hand; with Dementia, chronic illness, and end-of-life stages of loved ones.
Nancy Woolfrey - Sr. Manager of Operations, Client Service Coordinator
Nancy joined Visiting Angels in July of 2015, as Senior Manager of Operations and is a knowledgeable Client Service Coordinator. She currently lives in Southington, CT and oversees the day to day operations in our Brookfield, CT office. She has a BA in Business Management from Stetson University and has had a successful career as a Human Resources Administrator before joining our team of caring angels. Her caring spirit allows her to easily relate to family members who are doing their best to secure the best care services available for their loved ones. Nancy is dedicated to building long and lasting relationships with both our clients and caring angels team.
Marita Ferguson - Client Service Community Liaison
Marita joined our caring angels team in 2011 as an experienced Client Service Coordinator. She is passionate about diligently working with our clients and their families to find the perfect caregiver match for each given situation. She recognizes that finding the right caring angel for each case will help to ensure that our clients experience the best quality of life at home. She can be credited with enhancing client engagement by tailoring specific activities to our clients interests. Her educational background is in the social sciences, with a music concentration. She currently holds a BA in Social Work from Western Connecticut State University (WCSU). Recently Marita has been acting as the community liaison between our client families and our office staff. The majority of her time is spent conducting in home assessments, managing plans of care, and overseeing quality assurance in client/caregiver relationships. Marita has held several important social service positions in her 28 year career, before joining Visiting Angels. These positions included a role as a Geriatric Care Manager and a Social Worker for individuals suffering from developmental disabilities and acquired brain injuries. She also has extensive experience working with the probate court system, end of life planning steps, and estate planning. She is one of the most thoughtful members of our firm, who can always be counted on to recognize important staff achievements and client special occasions. Marita has 3 daughters and currently lives with her husband in Bethel, CT
Glenda Espana - Client Service Coordinator
Glenda joined our caring angels team in October of 2018. She is a valuable asset to our staff. Her work experience includes three years in the field of Human Health Service and an educational background in Human Services/Pre-Social Work, in which she attended college for two years. Glenda is Bilingual and has previously worked in the home care agency environment as a Community Services Specialist, specializing in cases which involve caring for the needs of those who have traumatic brain injuries. She has been a CNA for the past six years and enjoys working with seniors in her community. She currently lives in Danbury, with her two children.
Michelle Mascolo - Office Manager and Finance
Michelle has been a member of our caring angels team since 2008 and is our Office Manager serving both the Brookfield and Fairfield offices, providing vital support to our clients, their families, and our caregiving team. Michelle has an Associate’s Degree from Johnson and Wales University in RI and a Bachelor's Degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. She oversees essential functions involving the timely and accurate processing of invoices and payroll. Michelle also aids in managing calls to our offices and providing other caring angels team members support, as required.
Lisa Pienaar - Hiring and Human Resource Manager
Lisa has grown significantly in her career since first starting as a CNA with Visiting Angels on our caring angels team in 2003. From there she developed into a Programming Coordinator in the skilled nursing field among various facilities in the Danbury, CT area. As a CNA, Lisa has worked in Rehabilitation Centers, Area Hospitals, and Assisted Living Facilities across several states. She worked most recently as the Director of Career Services at a career learning institute in Danbury, CT, where she helped to place students with agencies in the area. Her diverse skill set in home care makes her an invaluable asset to finding the right care givers for our caring angels team and has afforded her the opportunity to reach out to prospective candidates and significantly grow our employee directory.
Carole Anne Del Vecchio - Client Services Coordinator
Bringing more than thirty five years of both nursing and educational experience, Carole Anne provides a wealth of experience to both our clients and caregiving team to ensure that the correct level of home care is being providing for each case. Her knowledgeable insight provides clients and their families with peace of mind and is a critical aspect of our team’s commitment to providing the highest quality in care.
Sheila Jaworowski - Community Relations and Marketing Manager
Sheila has been part of the caring angels’ team since March of 2018, following a career as Respiratory Therapist. Her love for working with the senior population caused her to leave the hospital setting behind in favor of working in home care. Her work experience has also allowed her to gain experience on the facility side, by working in Assisted Living and as a Senior Advisor with a national senior referral agency. In her free time she enjoys traveling to new places, spending time with her loved ones, and cooking.
Rita Johnson - Office and Hiring Manager
Rita joined our caring angels’ team in 2014 as both a Hiring Manager and Client Service Coordinator for the Fairfield, CT office. She manages caregiver recruitment, billing review, schedule management, and troubleshooting responsibilities. Rita's work experience extends to both the fields of Admissions and Marketing in various roles, for area nursing homes. She comes from a diverse educational background, including a Masters Degree in Health Care Administration, a BA in Human Services, and an Associates Degree in Mental Health. In her free time, she loves watching her daughter play basketball.
Coleen Hayes - Client Service Coordinator
Coleen has been part of the Visiting Angels team since 2009. She has worked as a Client Service Coordinator for both the Fairfield and Brookfield offices. She has worked in Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing and Memory Care but finds that Home Care is where her heart is. Coleen has 15+ years in this field and is also a Certified Senior Advisor. In her spare time Coleen enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors and reading.
Brendan Mendoza - Office Coordinator
Brendan is a recent graduate from Western State Connecticut University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Promotion Studies with a concentration in Community Health. He has over eight years of customer service experience both in healthcare and corporate. He has aspired to work in the healthcare field throughout his whole career and has always been passionate about assisting those in need. Brendan recently completed his 450-hour internship with Visiting Angels in November 2020 where he developed a greater understanding of healthcare service operations and his desire to help the elderly. His role at Visiting Angels, as an office coordinator, is responsible for the backend of service operations; managing client contracts, tracking client leads, and answering all service inquiries. His favorite thing about working at Visiting Angels is the rewarding feeling knowing he is able to serve those who seek help for their loved ones. Throughout the coming years, Brendan plans on continuing his education to pursue a degree as a Registered Nurse. In his free time Brendan enjoys spending time with family, exercising daily, and improving his holistic health.
Melanie Michna - Client Service Coordinator
Melanie joined the Visiting Angels office staff team after working directly with clients in the field as a Caregiver. She is committed to working with Seniors and their families to ensure that they receive excellent care in their homes. Melanie graduated with an associates in science from Naugatuck Community College, and has specialized in the past as a program director and Therapeutic Recreation Director for nursing facilities and senior living communities. Melanie is also a member of CATRD which helps promote awareness to the needs of the aged and disabled in the nursing facilities, adult daycares, assisted living and senior living communities. In her free time, Melanie enjoys spending time with her two children and traveling.
