At Home Care Questions from Families in Springfield, MO and Neighboring Communities
Visiting Angels of Springfield Answers Your Frequently Asked Questions About At Home Care
Q. What type of care do you provide?
A. Our at home care services include a wide range of personal care including grooming, bathing, mobility, toileting, incontinence, and more. We also offer a range of homemaking services such as light housekeeping, nutritious meal prep, grocery shopping, transportation, and companionship. Our caregivers can help with medication reminders, fluid reminders, and fall prevention. Our goal is to make it possible for your elderly loved one(s) to continue living independently in their home or yours.
Q. What is "Aging in Place?"
Aging in place is a term used as a way of saying an elderly person can continue to live independently in their own home or that of a family member as opposed to living in a nursing home. It can also mean that with the appropriate care the person can live in an assisted living facility.
Q. Do you provide one-on-one care in assisted living facilities?
A. Yes, we do, we have found that the care in an assisted living facility is not quite enough. Visiting Angels of Springfield has caregivers who can provide the care necessary to allow a person to live independently in this type of facility. Depending on the state you live in, there are laws in place that make it possible to hire a private care agency to supplement the care available in an assisted living facility or nursing home.
Q. How does the cost of care from Visiting Angels of Springfield compare to that of a nursing home or assisted living facility?
A. At Visiting Angels of Springfield, our typical services cost approximately 1/4 of those for a skilled care facility and 1/3 of those for an assisted living facility. Of course, the final costs will vary based on the level of services needed by your loved one in either of these types of facilities. Our costs will also vary on the level of at home care and services needed.
Q. How soon can at my essential care services start?
A. In most cases services can be started within 48 hours.
Q. Can my schedule be adjusted if I have appointments that might interfere with my care services?
A. We can easily make changes to your care schedule with as little as one week's notice. Our goal is to make sure you get the at home care you need based on your schedule, not ours. You will always come first, including your needs, requests and, of course, schedule. We will do everything we can to make sure you get the care schedule you want.
Q. How do I go about getting started with care services with Visiting Angels of Springfield?
A. The best way to get started with Visiting Angels of Springfield is to call our office at 417-863-8006. Once you contact us, we will schedule an appointment for a free, no-obligation meeting with one of our at home care advisers to discuss your needs. From here we will work to find caregivers whose skills, availability, and personality most suit you and your needs. You can then meet with several caregivers and choose the one that is right for you. After you approve of your caregiver, your at home care services can begin.
